Let’s find out ‘What Happened To Leah Croucher Murder Suspect, Neil Maxwell?’ The man who was working on the home where remains thought to be those of missing teenager Leah Croucher were discovered has been named by police as the suspect in her murder.
Neil Maxwell, a convicted sex offender who committed suicide on April 20, 2019, about two months after the adolescent vanished, has been named as Thames Valley Police’s top suspect.
It follows the discovery of Leah’s remains on Wednesday at a home in Furzton, Milton Keynes’ Loxbeare Drive, not far from where the then-19-year-old was last seen leaving for work in February 2019.
According to the police, Maxwell had keys to the property and was employed by the home’s owner to perform maintenance on it.
“I cannot even begin to imagine what it is like for Leah’s parents and family to have gone three years and eight months without knowing what has happened to their daughter and loved one,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Ian Hunter of the Thames Valley Police.
“The investigation team is committed to finding the truth for Leah’s family,” the statement reads.
Maxwell, however, was discovered dead on April 20, 2019, having committed suicide.
Details About Leah Croucher Disappearance
On February 15, Croucher began her two-mile walk from her home on Quantock Crescent in Emerson Valley to her job at a direct debit collection company (Debit Finance Collections Plc) in Knowlhill at around 08:00. After she failed to show up for her 9:00 shift and failed to come home from work that evening, her parents reported her missing.
Leah Croucher was last captured on camera heading toward her place of employment at 8:16 on Furzton’s Buzzacott Lane. At around 8:20, someone who matched her description was spotted nearby, in a place called Teletubby Hill (Furzton). At around 8:34, Croucher’s phone left the mobile network and, as of December 2021, had not joined another network.
Between 9:30 and 11:15 that morning, three different witnesses claimed to have seen someone who fit her description strolling close to Furzton Lake. She was reportedly crying and visibly upset as she spoke on the phone, according to the witnesses. If Croucher was seen in these sightings, the police have not confirmed it.
Leah, according to Thames Valley Police, is white, 5 ft 2 in (1.57 m) tall, with a slim build, brown hair that is below the shoulder length, and she occasionally dons glasses. She was last seen with a small black rucksack while wearing a black coat, skinny black jeans, and black Converse high top shoes.
What Happened To Leah Croucher’s Brother, A Missing Milton Keynes Teen, And An Explanation Of The Family Tragedy
In November 2019, just before the nine-month mark since his sister Leah vanished, Haydon Croucher committed suicide.
Following Leah Croucher’s disappearance, her family experienced a second tragedy when her older brother committed suicide.
According to an inquest, Haydon, 24, committed suicide after admitting to a therapist that he was having trouble adjusting to Leah, 19, going missing.
Leah vanished in February 2019 as she was making her way to work. After discovering some of her belongings and human remains at a Milton Keynes house on Wednesday, police announced that the search for her had changed into a murder investigation.
Haydon, Leah’s older brother, had been impacted by her disappearance. Following the disappearance of his sister, Haydon’s mother Tracey Furness claimed that her son was “consumed with pain and anguish,” felt “alone” and “lost,” and “felt he had no other choice but to take his own life.”
When Haydon’s mother and older sister Jade found him, they rushed him to the hospital, where he tragically passed away two days later.
Assistant therapist Chantelle Tillison testified at Haydon’s inquest in 2020 that in the final of three sessions, he felt there was no future for himself.
He felt helpless and declared that it would be better to die, according to Ms. Tillison. Leah was still missing, he said, and was having a hard time coping without family.
Haydon’s mother said in a statement following his passing: “What I am going to say will not be easy to hear. The level of honesty I will share will shock some people.
“We cannot deny reality any longer, cannot act as if this never occurs, cannot bury our heads in the sand and turn a blind eye to the horror of poor mental health. I wish I could prettify this, but I cannot.
“My son felt he had no choice but to take his own life on Thursday, November 14th because he felt so alone, so broken, and so lost.
Jade penned: “Haydon, my parents held onto your hand right up until the very end, but we will always hold you in our hearts. Until we see you again, you’ll always be with us.
“Although your parents may not be together, their love for you, their darling son, will never waver.
“With the love and support of both of our incredible stepparents Dave and Claire, we will all stick together as a family and get through the pain.”
Jade, Haydon’s older sister, continued, “Haydon, my parents held onto your hand right up until the very end, but we will always hold you in our hearts! Until we see you again, you’ll always be with us.
“Mum and Dad may not be together, but they still adore you, their sweet son, with all of their hearts!
“With the love and support of both of our incredible step-parents Dave and Claire, we will all stick together as a family and get through the pain.”
