A long-term illness claimed the life of Laxman Jagtap, a Bharat Janata Party lawmaker from Chinchwad, on Tuesday.
Jagtap also underwent therapy abroad, which helped to improve his health, but for the past five to six months, he has been dealing with new issues. Despite undergoing therapy, he only became worse, according to ABP Majha.
Just before Eknath Shinde’s insurrection and the overthrow of the MVA administration, which led to the formation of the new Shinde-Fadnavis government, the vital byelections for the Rajya Sabha and Vidhan Parishad (State Legislative Council) took place. Jagtap had arrived in Mumbai wearing a PPE kit to cast his ballot for BJP candidates despite being in poor condition.
Laxman Jagtap Cause Of Death
The three-term Chinchwad MLA died at age 59 following a battle with cancer. He was being treated at Pune’s Jupiter Hospital. Today from 3 to 6 pm, Jagtap’s lifeless remains will be stored at his residence before being cremated at 7 pm.
According to sources, Jagtap battled cancer for a while, won the battle, and then recently relapsed. In a hospital in Pune’s Baner district, he passed away.
Eknath Shinde, the chief minister, expressed grief by saying that with his passing, the BJP had lost a loyal supporter and a talented leader.
Chandrakant Patil, a BJP legislator from Kothrud and the minister in charge of the Pune Guardian, praised Jagtap as a sincere leader of the people who spoke up for the needs of common people in his region.
The opposition’s leader, Ajit Pawar, expressed his sorrow over the loss of his former close friend and colleague and remarked on how completely devoted Jagtap had been to the causes of others.

Laxman Jagtap first entered politics in 1986. He was employed as a corporator up till 2002. He presided over the Standing Committee at this time.
In 2004, after quitting the NCP, he stood for Legislative Council as an Independent and won. It proved how powerful it was politically. In the same year, he served as a Legislative Council MLA.
2009 saw the election of Laxman as an MLA to the Legislative Assembly. He began serving as a BJP MLA in 2014 and did so for two terms in a row. In 2017, he was elected Pimpri’s mayor. Additionally, he significantly influenced the BJP’s victory in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation election.
