Monterey Dance Studio Shooting In California: Is Huu Can Tran Dead?
The suspect in the shooting at the Monterey Dance Studio, Huu Can Tran, is said to have shot himself in the head inside a white van.
After a protracted standoff with the police in Torrance, California, a guy was discovered dead inside a white cargo van.
The body found inside the van belonged to the mass shooter at the Monterey dance studio, according to LA County Sheriff Robert Luna, who made the announcement during a press conference.
The mass shooting that took place over the Lunar New Year weekend in California’s sizable Asian-American population is thought to have been carried out by Tran.
After seeing a white cargo van that matched the specifications of the potential suspect vehicle in the Monterey Park shooting, SWAT officers engaged in an hours-long standoff.
Three heavily fortified authorities vehicles blocked the white van to stop the suspect from fleeing the area.
Authorities shouted for the person inside the van to exit after hearing a gunshot, leading them to assume the driver may have accidentally shot himself.
Authorities found evidence inside the van that connected the 72-year-old to both the gunshot in Monterey Park and the other event in Alhambra.
The firearm was also seized from the car, and investigators are now trying to determine what led to the fatal shot.
