For WWE, the PWA, and the AWF, Charlie Norris was a top draw. Norris began competing in wrestling in 1989. Once his training in Minneapolis was complete, he started working for Eddie Sharkey’s PWA promotion. Norris won the PWA Heavyweight Title and successfully defended it five times just a few months after making his debut.
Norris signed contracts with the National Wrestling Alliance and World Championship Wrestling when he made his professional wrestling debut in 1993. On the January 29, 1994 episode of WCW Worldwide, William Regal defeated Norris to win the title of WCW World Television Champion (aka Lord Steven Regal).

Norris also said that while other performers were paid for their travel and costumes, he wasn’t. He said that Ole Anderson’s tenure in that position violated the terms of a contract he signed with WCW. Norris prevailed in court.
