During his last days, he was in the intensive care unit of the Aga Khan University Hospital. Reportedly, his condition was critical when he was in the hospital.
The hospital had to shift him to the ventilator after his condition deteriorated after the surgery. The hospital administration confirmed that the famous hematologist had taken his last breath in the hospital.
In his long career time, the doctor had performed 650 transplant operations. Additionally, he has also published over 100 research articles. In the first wave of the coronavirus, he was the one who came up with the idea of treating COVID-19 patients using the recovered patient’s plasma.
The entire country’s healthcare sector of Pakistan will always remember him for his numerous service and as a pioneer of Bone Marrow transplantation. The entire country is sorrowful after the news of his death.
