The voyager was reported missing on February 20, the day after their departure. A rescue squad was quickly deployed.
It took nearly 5 days for the rescue squad to locate them, but it was too late. The team could only find the corpse of the human and canine together.
“He had fallen around 30 meters (98ft) down a gully on the west side of the slope, and we believe the most likely scenario is that he was holding his dog with one hand,” police said.
“It was horrible weather with heavy gusts at the time of his fall and he may have been attempting to get off the hill and lost his way a bit”.
Nonetheless, numerous concerns have been raised about this incident, with many suspecting that it was a suicide. According to police accounts, the death appears to be an act of God rather than a suicide or homicide.
Authorities have not released any information indicating that the adventurer plotted his own death.
