Taylor’s corpse was allegedly found in a forested location by members of the Putnam County Road Department on Thursday, Oct. 27. Taylor’s death was “obviously being worked as a homicide,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.
“Carter acknowledged to investigators prior to Taylor’s death that he transported and administered illicit drugs to Taylor, which caused her death,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
In the charge announcement, Farris stated: “This terrible incident is again another illustration of the harm that illicit narcotics entering our country from our border do to it. Overdoses including fentanyl resulted in over 100,000 fatalities in the previous year.”
Carter is currently being jailed without bond after being charged with further offenses.
Taylor attended Upperman High School in Baxter, Tennessee, and was a member of the wrestling team and ROTC, according to her obituary. She enjoyed singing, playing the ukulele, baking, quilting, and other creative endeavors.
