Walter Harold Mitchell Verdict 2022: Was He Jailed For Concealment Of A Dead Body?

The Associated Press reports that Walter Harold Mitchell will serve the remaining 671 days of his 6.25-year sentence in the Arizona Department of Corrections. According to reports, prosecutors demanded that Mitchell serve “no less than 18 years.”

According to reports, Mitchell declared after his sentence, “I accept responsibility for my actions. I shall follow the court’s ruling whether I live or die. I apologize.”

In September, Mitchell was found guilty on 29 charges of abandoning or hiding a dead corpse.

Woodcutters allegedly discovered a human limb and leg on December 26, 2020, and reported it to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office. 24 body parts, including five human heads and other limbs, were purportedly discovered by deputies. The bodies, according to the investigators, were “from a medical institution meant for use in the sphere of teaching and research.”

Mitchell was the owner of Seattle-based Future GenX, a body donation company, at the time of his arrest. According to reports, he apparently hired a location in Kent, Washington, “where he was keeping body parts from not less than 9 donors.”

Future GenX shut down in April 2020, and it is said that he transported the body parts from Washington to Arizona in a U-Haul loaded with dry ice.

Mitchell reportedly acknowledged to disposing of the body parts in November 2020 and stored them in a chest freezer while he was in Arizona. He subsequently traveled to Scottsdale, where he was arrested, and sold the freezer to someone.

The majority of the bones were from women, and as many as 12 persons were represented by them, according to The Associated Press.
