Learn more about ‘5 Simple Cardio Workouts You Can Perform While Watching TV’ This is the time of year to curl up in your favorite pajamas, perform some simple aerobic workouts, and watch your favorite movies.
You’d much prefer skip the gym, save some money on petrol, and squeeze in a quick sweat session at home given the bitterly cold temperatures and ice conditions outside. We completely get this, which is why we spoke with a specialist who shared five of her top suggestions for simple cardio activities you can perform while watching TV.
These movements may easily be included into your evening and weekend routines. Additionally, doing some exercise can improve the health of your joints, skin, and brain, according to the Cleveland Clinic. The advantages of this healthy kind of exercise include lowering your chance of having a stroke or getting Alzheimer’s, improving blood sugar management, cleaning up your skin, assisting with digestion, and supporting your weight reduction efforts.
Easy at-home cardio exercises are also significant time savers and enable you to exercise at your own comfort level, according to Victoria Brady, an ACE-Certified Personal Trainer on Fyt, the largest personal training service in the country that makes expert-guided fitness convenient for everyone, whether in-person or virtually. She clarifies, “You may accomplish two goals at once.
As starting the activity will be less of a headache, this enables you to be more consistent.” Additionally, if you’re a newbie, working out in the gym could make you feel uneasy. Brady continues, “Exercising at home gives you a comfortable environment to do it without the anxieties of who is looking at you.”
Walking In Place
As simple as it gets, these quick cardio workouts begin with a simple stroll. Brady advises that in order to prevent your lower back from curving, you should start by standing up straight, with your shoulders back and your hips leaning slightly forward.
After that, raise your right leg and set it back down before doing the same with your left leg. There is one rep in that. Do a minimum of 20 minutes of stationary walking. (If you have one, pull out a treadmill mat and use it to walk while watching TV.)
Jogging/Running In Place
It’s time to jog or run in place after that. Tallen yourself and flex your elbows. Bring your right foot forward and place it between the center and the heel of your foot to start “jogging.” Switch places on your left foot and swing your arms like you’re jogging or sprinting. That equals one complete rep. Run or jog for at least 20 minutes while remaining stationary.
Rebounding
The following activity, which involves a little trampoline, may become your new go-to at-home cardio workout routine. Set your position on the rebounder, then begin to bounce. Brady claims: “See how high you can jump or bounce while watching TV, or be creative by performing jumping jacks or front kicks while using the rebounder. If you want to watch a fitness video as you exercise, there are a ton of YouTube videos available.” Do some bouncing for at least 20 minutes.
Step Aerobics
For this workout, you’ll need a step, stool, or sturdy platform. You can do the following simple motions:
Basic Step-Ups:To start your step-ups, step your right foot onto the platform. Step down with your right foot first, then your left, after placing your left foot onto the platform. After finishing this set, perform 10 to 15 reps on your right side before switching to your left side. Step-ups at a basic level for at least 20 minutes.
Turn-Step Moves: In order to perform this exercise, you must first stand sideways to the step or platform, or with your body’s side perpendicular to it. Then, you must step up with your right foot. Turn your body when you put your right foot down after stepping your left foot onto the step. Next, bring your left foot down. Turn-steps must be done for at least 20 minutes.
Dance
And last but not least, let’s dance! “This one doesn’t require any instructions because dancing may be seen in many different ways. Start shaking and bouncing to keep it upbeat and entertaining while burning plenty of calories, “says Brady. Perform dancing for at least 20 minutes.
