The first two really came together while Tipesa was a member of the Long Beach State women’s basketball team.
They connected through a mutual acquaintance who happened to be Tipsa’s colleague. It wasn’t until Gray visited her friend one summer that they got to know each other. On the Sister Roger’s Gaborhood podcast, Gray gushed about how she fell in love with the woman the moment she laid eyes on her.
“Head over heels, nearly by an occurrence that transpired,” she remarked. But she didn’t know. She didn’t even turn to face me. She obviously had my interest, to put it briefly.
In Los Angeles, Chelsea Gray wed Tipesa Mercedes Moorer, her longtime partner.
The ceremony at the Bel Air Club was attended by Gray’s teammate Candace Parker, former Sparks player Ify Ibekwe, and Chicago Sky player Jantel Lavender, according to OutSports.
From Hayward, California, is Gray. She announced on Instagram that she was going to marry her future bride on June 27, 2018. In the image, the two women are grinning and having a romantic moment together under a sky that appears to be straight out of a Hollywood film. Sparks fly as Moorer, who is also from California and is from Harbor City, flashes her engagement ring in front of the camera.

On Instagram, Gray shared an old picture of the couple taken on their wedding day along with the message, “Love doing life with you! Best wishes, gorgeous! #2YearsDown.”
Regarding their wedding anniversary, Tipesa also posted the following on Instagram: “As joyful and giddy as the day I married you. My love, happy anniversary.
The couple will commemorate their third anniversary in 2022.

While attending California State University, Long Beach, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in marketing, Tipesa participated in the sport.
She played for the Long Beach women’s basketball team for four years, from her freshman to senior year, before joining the staff and rising to the position of director of operations.
She later quit her job and is now employed in the logistics industry, which enables her to fit work into her Olympic gold medalist wife’s schedule.
Tipesa hails from the Harbor City neighborhood in California. Gray and she have been residing together in Little Elm, Texas, since the summer of 2019.
