Everyone assumes that a judge who handles divorce cases would be an expert on love and relationships, but Divorce Court Judge Lynn Toler admitted in a September 2012 op-ed for The Huffington Post that her own marriage had its ups and downs.

For almost 30 years, Toler was wed to Eric “Big E” Mumford. Eric was made on January 1, 1951, in Ohio. In 1986, when he first met Toler, his second wife, he already had four children under his care.

However, Judge Toler reared them as her own and eventually welcomed two more children into their family because she loved them. They got married in 1989.

She stated in her op-ed that she and Big E were “off the road and deep in the weeds” at the 19-year mark of their marriage.

She first described the situation from their respective perspectives, which did not sound good, before explaining how she had improved their communication and comprehension of one another by applying the lessons she had learnt at the divorce court.

Toler and Mumford tried to repair their marriage over the course of a year and a half, putting an emphasis on long-term effects and making a deliberate effort to be actively involved in their union. They “have made a conscious decision to be consciously wedded,” according to Toler.
