Health And Illness Update For MMA Fighter Derrick Lewis: Why Was Lewis vs Spivac Canceled?
Derrick Lewis’ health was declared satisfactory after he was forced to withdraw from the UFC Fight Night 215 main event.
The illness of Lewis (26-10 MMA, 17-8 UFC), who was supposed to fight Serghei Spivac (15-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC), was announced by UFC officials in the midst of Saturday’s show.
Little was known about Lewis’ health after the news broke, but Dr. Jeff Davidson, a UFC doctor, told MMA Junkie that “The Black Beast” had been admitted to the hospital with a stomach issue.
Lewis was later discovered to be free of the issues, and Dr. Davidson reports that Lewis has been released from the hospital.
We don’t yet know what the promotion has planned for Lewis or if Spivac’s fight will be rescheduled.

Lewis kept competing after he ultimately left the hospital. Lewis was removed from the card when UFC officials had to postpone the main event. The announcement was made official by the UFC Vegas 65 broadcast team.
Lewis, 37, had just suffered back-to-back knockout losses to Tai Tuivasa and Sergei Pavlovich; this was a huge chance for him to regain momentum.
It will take a bit longer for the “Black Beast” to get back to the Octagon. If whatever ailment prevents him from taking part in the walk this weekend gets better.
Following the postponement of Lewis vs. Spivak, the light heavyweight contest between Ion Cutelaba and Kennedy Nzechukwu will now serve as the main event of UFC Vegas 65.
Details About Early Life Of Derrick Lewis
In New Orleans, Louisiana, Lewis was the second oldest of a single mother’s seven children. He struggled and regularly got into street fights as a kid.
In 1998, Lewis’ family relocated to Houston, Texas. When Lewis was 17 years old, he began boxing training. He was preparing for his first amateur fight when the gym abruptly closed.
Two weeks after receiving his high school diploma, Lewis was placed on probation and accused of aggravated assault.
Two years later, Lewis violated his probation while attending Kilgore College on a full football scholarship. Although he received a five-year term, he only spent three and a half of years in jail.
A week after being released, Lewis began working as a tow truck driver and taking George Foreman’s boxing lessons.
Additionally, a friend introduced him to mixed martial arts. After winning his first professional match handily, Lewis made the decision to focus on mixed martial arts.
