How Did LaJoya McCoy Die?
LaJoya McCoy, a 31-year-old resident of Pasadena, California, had a fantastic life. She was a single mother of two who held a full-time position as an auditor for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health while also operating Joya Boutique in Monterey Park. Yes, she was frequently busy, but she never skipped an appointment and always made time for her children, relatives, and friends.
As a result, they were worried when June 15, 2015, arrived and no one had heard from her in days. LaJoya’s coworkers told anybody who tried to reach her that she still needed to get to work and had missed a lot of important meetings.
On that day, the Monrovia Police Department (MPD) went to the 800 block of West Olive Avenue to see how LaJoya was doing. When they stumbled upon her home and saw indications of wrongdoing, they immediately got in touch with her to get a search warrant.
They asked the Sheriff Homicide Bureau for assistance with what they believed to be a missing person’s investigation. They saw her car the following day, on June 16, in the 200 block of West Cypress Avenue, about a mile from her apartment, and found her dead corpse inside, covered with a blanket and a kid car seat.
LaJoya McCoy Cause Of Death: Who Murdered Her?
Jose Roberto Turner, her ex-boyfriend and the father of her two children, was detained by homicide detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on August 27, 2015, more than a month after LaJoya’s passing. At this point, he was accompanied by their kids.
Just two years before the homicide, after dating for almost ten years, the two broke up, which Jose found upsetting. LaJoya’s friends and family were worried about her safety after her remains were found because of certain strange things that had been happening to her.
When she got home more than once, they alleged, she felt as though someone had been inside since certain documents had vanished and her tires had been slashed. The detectives then started looking into her home and possessions, where they discovered her ex-boyfriend hiding in plain sight.
Witnesses said that Jose displayed stalker-like behavior and jealousy when LaJoya was with other guys, which had recently resurfaced as she was possibly going on a date. In his journal, he had even written about how angry he was with her and how he had just killed her. On the other hand, Jose’s actions led to his death.
