Junaid earned his Bachelor of Arts in Politics from the University of Durham, his Bachelor of Arts in Law from the University of Cambridge, his Master of Science in International Relations from the London School of Economics (LSE), and his Master of Science in Global Governance and Ethics from University College London (UCL).

On July 18, 2018, the day Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz flew out of London for Pakistan, users released a video to Twitter showing Junaid being restrained.

Regarding the rumors, Junaid addressed them on social media, claiming that he was detained for defending himself against a PTI goon attack that occurred in 2018.

Scotland Yard conducted a criminal investigation, according to Junaid, but took no further action.
