Liz Truss: Transphobic or not?
Liz Truss, who was recently appointed as Foreign Secretary as well as Equalities Secretary, told The Telegraph’s Chopper’s Politics Podcast during a live event at the Conservative Party Conference that people who want to change their sexuality should not be able to declare their own identity and should instead be subjected to invasive medical checks. This occurrence occurred on Sunday, October 3rd.
These people must first be diagnosed in order to receive a GRC, which is required in the UK for both men and women to amend their birth certificates.
The leader believes they have approached those individuals correctly. At the conference, she disclosed that they had streamlined and made the procedure more humane.
She is not anti-trans persons and has total regard for them, but she also believes that self-identification with no checks and balances in the system is incorrect.

Truss did not go into detail about what she done to make the legal recognition process easier and more compassionate. During her time as Minister for Women and Equalities, the only change was a lowering in the cost of a GRC. In May 2021, the politician indicated that the application procedure would be shifted online to make it easier. This is still an option.

Liz Truss’s husband is accountant Hugh O’Leary. He went to the London School of Economics and is believed to be the same age as Liz (46).
They originally met at a Tory Party convention in 1997 and went on their first date shortly afterwards. “I invited him ice skating, and he hurt his ankle,” the PM candidate recounted their first date to You.
Liz and Hugh married in 2000, and this year marks their 22nd wedding anniversary.
