“Tragically, another priceless soul was gone. Martin Duffy, who had previously performed with us at Knebworth, stepped in to save the Charlatans when we lost Rob.

In 1985, Duffy started playing the piano for Felt, and eventually he became one of the band’s original members.
“I hung posters at Virgin in Birmingham asking, “Do You Want To Be A Rock’ N’ Roll Star?” later on, Lawrence, the lead vocalist of Felt, remembered.
When this woman approached and said, “I know this piano player,” I had already put two bets. He’s 16. He just received his high school diploma.
He played keyboards on Primal Scream’s debut and second albums when Felt broke up at the end of 1989, and later joined the band permanently.

Duffy remained a band member up until the band’s breakup in 1989, when Lawrence said he had achieved his goal of releasing ten singles and ten albums in ten years.
