Our conversation with Thara Prashad, a qualified yoga instructor and health coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, led to the sharing of this incredible morning flow. You won’t often take a class with me where we don’t do these poses, she says, “since this is one of my all-time favorite sequences.” Give your body a much-needed morning boost by continuing to read to discover more.

In order to get the spine moving and experience a significant daily energy boost, Prashad shows you exactly how to recreate the “Half Moon Yoga Flow” at home in the video up above. “By raising your arms above your head, you may widen your shoulders and strengthen your arms. By widening the gap between the ribs, we give the lungs more room to expand “She clarifies. “These positions enable the spine to stretch and widen the heart area. Through chair pose, we tone the glutes and quadriceps while also massaging the heart as the diaphragm rises.”

Spend about 30 to 60 seconds in each pose, and don’t forget to practice deep breathing. Prashad claims that we frequently adopt a stance while holding our breath, which results in constriction and tightness. “Let the body gradually open further and deeper, and let the breath to be fluid.” Bring your hands to your heart as you finish the flow and declare your daily objective.

Sitting At A Desk Can Be A Major Energy Drainer

You could feel as though your energy is depleted during the day if you spend too much time sitting at your desk. As Prashad points out, you’re also not moving your spine as much as you ought to. (Playing on our phones while slouching over and staring down is another significant factor in this.)

According to earlier studies conducted at the University of Georgia, otherwise healthy but sedentary adults who completed a 20-minute low-to-moderate intensity aerobic workout three days a week for six consecutive weeks reported feeling more energised and less weary. (In fact, the study’s authors found that low-intensity exercise can reduce fatigue feelings by a staggering 65%!)

Unfortunately, many of us are guilty of failing to move our spines as frequently as we should, which can cause pain and discomfort throughout the body. To get the spine and your entire body moving before you go to work or wherever your day may take you, it can be incredibly beneficial to start your day with a low-intensity yoga flow.

According to John Hopkins Medicine, yoga can raise your physical vitality, lift your spirits, and reduce stress. Studies have also demonstrated how doing a yoga flow can significantly improve the quality of your sleep. (For instance, a 2012 study found pregnant yoga practitioners have lower rates of prenatal sadness and sleep disruptions.)
