Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood stated, according to the Raleigh News & Observer, “Although we do not have that confirmation yet, in the absence of any additional missing persons matching the characteristics of the individuals discovered, the unfortunate but logical conclusion is more evident.” The community as a whole, as well as the family and friends of the victims, are devastated by this loss.

Woods, a student at Hillsborough’s Cedar Ridge High School, went missing on Saturday afternoon, according to her family. On Sunday, Clark’s family filed a missing person report. He played football for Eastern Alamance High School in Mebane as a senior.

According to investigators, the two were friends, WTVD said.

Around 3 p.m. on Sunday, guys on ATVs discovered the dead next to a powerline easement, according to the sheriff’s office. A few nights prior, David White, a local resident, informed the news station that he heard what appeared to be automatic shooting.

Five more bullets rang out after he hesitated for a short while and heard close to ten rounds fire like an automatic gun. Who is firing at this hour of the night, I wondered.

Clark’s family was looking for information while Woods’ family requested space to mourn privately.

His mother, Tiffany Concepcion, said, “He never mistreated anybody, so for him to get done like this is – I have to have answers.” I’m going to keep going and on doing it because I want justice, regardless of where I have to go, what I have to do, or who I have to talk to.

During a Monday night soccer match between the two high schools, the students’ high schools observed a minute of silence in their honor. East Alamance High School also hosted a balloon release for Clark on their football field. Crystal Hughes, Clark’s aunt, said the family is filled with doubts but that it was heartwarming to see the affection for her nephew.

We don’t have any specifics, so it’s difficult for us to digest everything that is happening, Hughes added. “And we truly, our lack of knowledge and just doesn’t sit right with us with the things that we’re hearing and all the many sides of the story we know, hoping that the police department’s investigation is going the way that it’s meant to go,” But it’s difficult for us.

Her disappearance was reported on Saturday at noon by Woods’ stepfather, who claimed to have last seen her about 11 p.m. The News & Observer said that he tried to wake her up on Saturday morning after discovering her gone on Friday. She apparently fled through the back door, which was unlocked, according to investigators. A $10,000 prize was given by her grandpa in exchange for information on her Monday death.

Although Clark’s family reported that he, too, had been missing since Friday night about 11 p.m., the missing person report was mostly silent on further specifics.
