Brenden Wetzel lost control of his pickup vehicle while heading to school on Cherry Hill Road, north of Laraway Road, early on February 10. Injuries from the crash included a concussion, fractured arms and legs, and a punctured spleen.
After the incident, someone dialed 911, and Brenden Wetzel was transported to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox. He was sent to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood for specialized treatment. He had many operations as a result of his injuries, and is currently receiving critical care.
Brenden Wetzel suffered wounds to his skin, a burst spleen, shattered bones in his legs, arms, and hand, and a serious concussion as a result of the event. He endured six hours of emergency surgery to treat his wounds.
