Dustin Scott Lykins Murder Case

Dustin Scott Lykins Murder Case: Authorities in Butler County, Ohio, allege that the individual responsible for the violent assault and murder of a 25-year-old mother on her front balcony in February was her boyfriend. The suspect, identified as Dustin Scott Lykins, 27, has a history of multiple incarcerations since 2015.

According to the indictment, Lykins is accused of murdering Amber Lynn Adams in Middletown on February 11. Initial reports by the local Journal-News stated that the shooting took place on a Saturday night at an apartment on Flemming Road. Middletown Police initially arrested a man at the residence on drug charges after he allegedly admitted to smoking meth. However, the Lykins indictment does not mention any involvement of drugs.

The indictment begins with the statement, “Dustin Scott Lykins caused the death of Amber Lynn Adams as a direct result of committing or attempting to commit a violent felony offense, which constitutes the offense of MURDER against the peace and dignity of the State of Ohio.” It further specifies that the offender possessed or controlled a firearm during the offense, either displaying, brandishing, indicating possession, or using it to facilitate the crime.

The indictment also includes two additional counts against Lykins: felonious assault for intentionally causing serious physical harm to Amber Adams and felonious assault with a deadly weapon, namely a firearm.

Butler County Prosecuting Attorney Michael T. Gmoser stated that the sealed indictment was only made public following Lykins’ arrest by federal authorities on Wednesday.

“The charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred on February 11, 2023, in Middletown, Ohio. The indictment against Mr. Lykins remained sealed until his arrest, which was executed by federal marshals from the U.S. Marshal Service’s Cincinnati office, known as SOFAST,” stated the prosecutor’s office. “On June 21, 2023, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Mr. Lykins was apprehended without incident in Madison Township, Butler County, Ohio, by U.S. Marshals.”

According to WXIX, the suspect was taken into custody while walking near a fire department in Madison Township.

Records from the Butler County jail, as reviewed by Law&Crime, indicate that Mr. Lykins was officially booked into the jail around 11:06 a.m. on Wednesday. Previous records from the same jail reveal multiple past bookings of Lykins dating back eight years. These arrests were related to various offenses such as failure to appear in court, probation violations, and a 2015 criminal case involving charges of obstructing official business, possessing criminal tools, criminal trespass, and receiving stolen property.

Amber Adams, a mother of a young son who held managerial positions at Dollar General and Taco Bell, passed away in her city of birth, where she had lived her entire life, according to her obituary. She is survived by her son, parents, siblings, and “many” extended family members and friends.

“Amber was known for her lively and cheerful personality, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces, and she was deeply loved by all,” expressed Amber’s loved ones.
