The idea’s simplicity is part of its genius, as it is undeniably entertaining to watch three comic heavyweights trade insults as they battle ghosts and spirits across New York City. Even if you’re a wuss, you should be able to sit through Ghostbusters as long as your worst nightmare doesn’t involve a massive Stay Puft Marshmallow Man running amok.
True, a significant portion of my affection for Ghostbusters stems from two types of nostalgia: one for the friendship that pervades the entire course of this fantastic little comedy, and another that is utterly solipsistic. But, putting nostalgia aside, I’ve always thought this was the best mainstream 1980s comedy.

2. Hocus Pocus
In the 1993 American fantasy comedy Hocus Pocus, a teen boy (Omri Katz) accidentally resurrects a trio of evil comic witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy) on Halloween night in Salem, Massachusetts. The director is Kenny Ortega, and the writers are Neil Cuthbert and Mick Garris.
On July 16, 1993, Walt Disney Pictures released the film in the United States. It did poorly at the box office and received mixed to unfavorable reviews from critics upon its initial release. During its theatrical run, it may have cost Disney $16.5 million.
Three children who break free from the Sanderson Sisters’ spell turn a traditional “Halloween Ghost Story” into a real-life adventure. The Sanderson Sisters, who were executed around 300 years ago after being found guilty of witchcraft in Colonial Salem, Massachusetts, come back to life when “a virgin lights the candle,” as brilliantly portrayed by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy.
Two teenagers and an eight-year-old must collaborate to prevent the evil witches from carrying out their evil plot to entice the town’s children to their witch home and sip their life-force away from them.

3. The Midnight Club
Let’s move on to some of the new Halloween shows. Critics are recommending ‘the Midnight Club,’ which was released on October 7th of this year, for the holiday season.
There is a Guinness World Record contender for the most planned jump scares in a single television show. A new Netflix series is also premiering at the same time.
On Thursday, co-creator of the series Mike Flanagan and his creative team were presented with a plaque commemorating the new record of 21 jump scares at the Netflix New York offices. His new series, The Midnight Club, will debut on the streaming service the following day. Guinness representative Adjudicator Andrew Glass was present to make it official.
In the novel The Midnight Club, a group of teenagers live together in a hospice home. Despite the fact that they are all terminally ill, the majority of them have cancer, and one has AIDS, they strive to live out their final days without being buried in medical procedures, keeping each other company.
4. Trick ‘r Treat
The four short films that comprise the modern Halloween cult classic Trick ‘r Treat from 2008 are linked together by a spooky (and sometimes endearing) trick-or-treater who stumbles through each of the tales of terror in a tiny village on Halloween night. As a result, it’s the ideal Halloween pre-party date night movie before you go out and cause your own mayhem on the streets.
Despite receiving positive reviews, it was clearly deemed too unconventional for general release, and, like The Cabin in the Woods five years later, no one understood how to sell it to a large audience. It succumbed to its own inventiveness.

This beloved Peanuts classic is suitable for people of all ages. It promotes a number of popular Halloween traditions, such as trick-or-treating, apple-tossing, and the infamous Great Pumpkin.
Snoopy acts out a mock fight on the roof of his dog house while dressed as a World War I flying ace, complete with flying bullets. Some of the Halloween images (ghosts, skeletons) may be frightening to younger viewers.
The “Charlie Brown” Halloween special will only be available on Apple TV+ in 2022, and it will be free for everyone for a limited time.
