On Tuesday, a mother from Shelby County was discovered shot to death inside her residence.
A family member called Calera police to check on the woman’s wellbeing at her house on Kerry Drive in the Kinsale community at around 7:30 p.m.
When they arrived, they discovered Lashondra Monique Wilder, 42, inside the house but not breathing. She looked to have received many gunshot wounds and was declared dead right away.
Wilder was the mother of a boy and a daughter who were both teenagers.

The site was attended by the Shelby County Major Crimes Task Force, who stayed there until early Wednesday.
According to Calera Police Chief David Hyche, the subject was apprehended in Jefferson County early on Wednesday. The killing is thought to have been a domestic incident.
The suspect was identified as a 17-year-old man via a lookout alert sent to law enforcement agencies in Shelby and Jefferson counties.
Because it was reported that the suspect was a student, Calera’s schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution.
The first homicide of the year in Birmingham occurred against Wilder, a former resident.
Hyche wrote on Facebook, “We appreciate the cooperation and patience of our folks. In our town, crimes like these don’t happen frequently, but when they do, the police, schools, and residents all work as a team.
