However, his coworker became concerned and alerted the police after he failed to show up at the office and would not answer the phone.

Around 2 pm, when the police arrived at his home to check on him, they found him to be lifeless.

The death was initially thought to be mysterious, but an investigation revealed that it was actually a homicide.

Investigators found no evidence of a break-in, a glaring disturbance inside, or a larceny.

On May 13, 2013, the 73-year-old lawyer was found dead at his home. Homicide was found to be the cause of death.

Galfy was “a loyal brother, uncle, and friend, who adored traveling, the New York Giants, and music, and played in a wedding band for almost 25 years,” according to his obituary in The Star-Ledger.

The audience were drawn in by Kai’s vivid presentation of the terrible news item.

As a result, the video received extensive media coverage and went viral.

The online celebrity first met Galfy in Times Square, and because he was homeless, he was invited back to stay in the guest room of Galfy’s home.

He said that Joseph had drugged and sexually attacked him, and in self-defense, he had retaliated.

How Was Kai The Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker Caught?

The police found a piece of paper at Joseph’s house with Kai’s name and phone number on it, the documentary claims.

Additionally, they uncovered a rail ticket, which led them to check through the CCTV footage of the train station, where they discovered a video of Galfy and Kai together.

Kai admitted to the police that he had killed the elderly guy in self-defense after being apprehended.

He elaborated on how Joseph had extended an invitation for him to remain at his house but instead drugged and raped him sexually.

According to the police and the prosecution, there were no signs of a struggle, and Lawerence’s body was free of any signs of self-defense.

A medical examiner stated at the trial that Galfy’s wounds were too serious to be the result of self-defense, despite their other claims that the wounds were severe.

After his arrest, many of his supporters, who thought he was innocent, started a drive to raise money for his defense.

Prosecutors believed they had arrested a serious suspect, though.

Kai Lawrence was held without bail after his initial court appearance due to a $3 million bond.

He asserted his innocence, and nearly six years passed as he was detained in jail pending trial.

Finally, Lawrence received a 57-year prison term after being found guilty of first-degree murder in 2019.
