American football quarterback Alan Bowman, who was born on March 6, 2000, plays for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. He played football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders from 2018 to 2020, then the Michigan Wolverines from 2021 to 2022.

In Grapevine, Texas, Bowman attended Grapevine High School. Bowman, a junior at the time, was selected as the District’s Most Valuable Player in 2016. In his final year, Bowman threw for 3,570 yards and 38 touchdowns. Bowman made Texas Tech his top choice on June 15, 2017, rejecting Ole Miss, Arkansas, Missouri, and Houston.

In his first season at Texas Tech in 2018, Bowman faced up against sophomore Jett Duffey and junior McLane Carter for the starting spot. In the end, Carter was selected as the starter for Ole Miss in the first week. Bowman entered the game in the second quarter when Carter left with a high ankle injury.

Bowman completed 29 of 49 throws for 273 yards and a score in the loss of 27-47. For the game against Lamar in the second week of the season, Bowman got the start at quarterback. He completed 22 of his 25 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns in the first half of the game.

How Many Times Did He Face Houston?

On September 15, Bowman played a historic game against Houston, completing 43 of 59 passes for 605 yards and five touchdowns as he won 63-49. The Big 12 Conference record for throwing yards in a single game was set by Bowman with 605 yards. On September 29 against West Virginia, Bowman was trapped between two defenders and exited the game with what initially appeared to be an upper-body injury, but it was actually a partially collapsed lung that forced him to leave the field just before halftime.

 

 

Following his comeback from injury, Bowman played against Kansas on October 20 and completed 36 of 46 passes for 408 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. At the halfway point of the November 3 game against Oklahoma, Bowman exited the game for reasons that were never made public. After Bowman left the hospital on November 7, it was found that his partially collapsed lung had returned. In his debut season, Bowman completed 227 passes out of 327 attempts for 2,638 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions.

A starting quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines has opted to leave the team twice just this month. Alan Bowman, a fifth-year senior who joined the team after transferring from Texas Tech and spending the previous two years in Ann Arbor, reportedly placed his name into the NCAA transfer portal on Thursday.

Bowman moved to Ann Arbor in time for the 2021 season, but he was unable to oust starter Cade McNamara and backup J.J. McCarthy. On November 28, McNamara entered the transfer portal, and on December 2, he made the announcement that he would be moving from Michigan to Iowa.

The Wolverines had won their first Big Ten championship since 2004 under his direction. Michigan won the Big Ten championship for the second consecutive year after McCarthy was elevated to starter status early in the season, and the Wolverines qualified for the College Football Playoff. During his two seasons with the maize and blue, Bowman participated in four games.

He completed eight of his eleven passes (72.7%) for 69 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He had started 16 games for the Red Raiders over three seasons, completing 67% of his passes while throwing for 5,260 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions. Bowman left Michigan in the previous three weeks via the transfer portal, joining McNamara defensive end George Rooks, tight ends Erick All (Iowa), and Louis Hansen.
