On September 4, Emily Rodriguez-Avila was discovered dead, a day after texting her loved ones to indicate that friends were picking her up from work, KHOU reported.
The 16-year-body old’s had been placed by the road approximately an hour away from her workplace at Niko Niko’s Greek restaurant while still wearing her uniform.
Joel Garcia-Martinez, 20, Katherine Alvarez-Flores, 20, and Kevin Rivera-Ortiz, 19, were reportedly detained by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. According to the investigators, Rodriguez-ex-boyfriend Avila’s was Rivera-Ortiz.
The two males were taken into custody in Houston on Tuesday with the help of gang units from the Houston Police Department and the US Department of Homeland Security. Alvarez-Flores, who is also accused of tampering, was taken into custody a few days earlier, according to the sheriff’s office.
On individual $1 million bonds, all three have been checked into the Liberty County Jail.
Niko Niko’s staged a fundraiser last week to assist Rodriguez-family Avila’s with funeral costs. Her birthplace of Honduras is where her family want to bury her.

Niko Niko’s holds fundraiser for family of murdered 16-year-old employee
HOUSTON — Niko Niko’s organized a fundraising event on Wednesday to assist the family of a 16-year-old employee murdered after her shift.
The whole net profit from the activity at I-10 and Beltway 8, where Emily Rodriguez-Avila worked, will go to the teen’s family.
Dimitri Fetokakis, the proprietor of Niko Niko, declared that it had been a great success.
Fetokakis said that Rodriguez-family Avila’s approved of the fundraising and is appreciative of the support they have already received.
Since August, the 16-year-old has been bussing tables and cleaning at the restaurant.
The business owner claims that Rodriguez-sister, Avila’s who also worked there, assisted her brother in obtaining employment.
Fetokakis described Rodriguez-Avila as a “young girl, quiet, put her head down and just did her thing,” claiming that he last saw Rodriguez-Avila a few days before to her slaying.
On September 3rd, Rodriguez-Avila texted her family to say that friends had picked her up after work. She was about an hour’s drive from her employment when a bystander discovered her death the next morning on a country road east of Plum Grove in Liberty County.
She was still donning her office attire.
Captain Ken DeFoor with Liberty County Sheriff’s Office told KHOU 11 that investigators are still looking for the person or people responsible for the murder.
When someone so young and like that gets stolen from you, it’s devastating, Fetokakis added.
Fetokakis asserted that Wednesday was a nice day since his group and the neighborhood were able to assist the family.
“I received a call from an unidentified donor saying, “I’m going to contribute $5,000. Fetokakis recalled, “Perhaps you could increase the incentive and attempt to discover these folks.
On Wednesday, Rodriguez-family Avila’s chose not to speak in public or post a picture of the teen.
Fetokakis stated that they are aiming to gather enough cash to bury the youngster in her birthplace of Honduras.
