Mel Gibson was arrested for DUI on July 28th, 2006 by Sheriff’s Deputy James Mee of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (driving under the influence).

When the officer refused to let him drive home, Mel reportedly became enraged and began yelling.
According to police accounts, Mel Gibson told the officer, “F-ing Jews… the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.” “Are you a Jew?” he inquired of the officer.
After TMZ revealed the event, the actor offered two public apologies via his representative.
In a live televised interview with Diane Sawyer, the New York native acknowledged the authenticity of the allegations.
He also expressed contrition for his “despicable” conduct, apologizing for remarks he “blurted out in a moment of lunacy.”
Furthermore, the director asked to meet with Jewish authorities so that they could help him “find the appropriate avenue for recovery.”
Mel’s representative stated that following his incarceration, he enrolled in an alcoholism treatment program.

In 2009, the Hacksaw Ridge director divorced his three-decade-long wife and began dating young model Oksana Grigorieva. In October of that year, the model became pregnant.
