The family gained notoriety in 2013 with the release of “XMAS Jammies,” a spoof of “Miami” by Will Smith that was meant to serve as the family’s electronic Christmas card.

Their Christmas jammies video quickly became popular on YouTube, receiving 15 million views in a single week.

After the former New York City journalists turned internet comedians first started their coronavirus lockdown to laugh about it to make people smile, Kim and Penn Holderness, the family, received mixed feedback.

The viral hits “New Normal in Quarantine” and “Gimme Six Feet (Physical Distancing Remix)” were created by Kim and her spouse.

Kim Holderness wrote in a blog post on the couple’s website that they chose to release the song now since both she and her husband have experienced sexual harassment.

Kim and Penn’s book, Everybody Fights: So Why Not Get Better At It, about enhancing communication in a marriage, will be out on March 30, 2021.

According to B.B.C., radio stations throughout the nation have boycotted the 1944 holiday song “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” due to fears that the lyrics, which at one time looked innocent, now have a more sinister undertone in the aftermath of the #MeToo movement.

Following a listener complaint, Cleveland radio station Star 102 took the song from its Christmas playlist, which angered the Holderness family.

A listener named WDOK 102.1, according to the city’s FOX8, claims that the song doesn’t reflect the values of the burgeoning #MeToo movement.

 

What Did The Holderness Family Do?

When COVID-19 was introduced in 2020, the family made viral parodies and skits to highlight their responses to getting a COVID-19 vaccine appointment. These included a Hamilton medley about donning a mask and a Frozen parody dubbed “It’s Vaccination Day.”

Every Christmas season, the Holderness family published a fresh set of “XMAS Jammies,” to which they also added over 300 more parodies.

The Holderness Family made appearances on UPTV, The Twelve Foods of Christmas on The Food Network, and The Greatest Holiday Video Countdown on The C.W. Anderson Show.

The patriarch of the Holderness family, Penn Holderness, began his career in New York as a video essayist for ABC and ESPN before moving back to North Carolina to host WNCN-nightly TV’s news.

Before joining Inside Edition in New York City, His wife, Kim Dean, worked as a television reporter in Florida from 2004 to 2008.
