Dr. Bohl issues the following warning: “If you repeatedly do too much of the same thing, you miss the chance to do other things that may also be good for your health (and, in the case of something like your food, you may actually unintentionally miss out on crucial nutrients your body requires).”

The warning? Make sure not to run too much, in the wrong shoes, over unfavorable terrain, or with inappropriate form. Any of these unhealthy habits increase the risk of suffering from an injury like plantar fasciitis or shin splints.

Running can induce inflammation, and if you need to take a break to allow yourself time to heal, you may wind up receiving less exercise, which could be detrimental to your goals, says Dr. Bohl. Whether this actually leads to premature aging is not yet established.

Many dieters adhere to diets that limit their intake of carbs, which can be crucial to achieving a healthy weight. But be aware that doing so means cutting back on empty-calorie carbs like processed grains and added sugars.

Dr. Bohl advises, “But cutting out all carbohydrates isn’t a wise move. One of the three macronutrients required by the body for survival, carbohydrates serve as one of the primary energy sources for cells. And other carbs, like fiber, provide additional advantages that are crucial for life, such as lowering the risk of heart disease and some types of cancer.”

 

Washing Your Face

Maintaining a daily skincare routine is crucial. To remove additional oils and dirt, you should wash your face one to two times every day. However, washing your face too frequently each day can harm your skin. The natural oils in your skin that are required to keep it hydrated might be removed by over-cleansing. Your skin may become dry and irritated without these oils.

While this may not directly affect your longevity, Dr. Bohl notes that it can result in rapid visible skin aging, which may be the exact reverse of what you’re attempting to do by cleaning.

 

Relying On Products That Help Improve Your Posture

Avoid sitting in agony all day. If you spend most of your time sitting at a desk, you should think about utilizing assistive tools that can help you be more comfortable and improve your posture. Dr. Bohl suggests: “While using these assistance devices too frequently might occasionally be harmful to your health, they can also be useful training tools that help your body grow accustomed to sitting in the proper position.
