When “All Too Well” finally received accompanying graphics, fans were ecstatic. But why did Swift wait so long to release the music video? Swift admitted that she and Swifties were the only ones that refused to dismiss the song in an interview with TIFF.
Swift reflected on “All Too Well,” saying, “It was a song that I loved so much but it was never picked by you know an A & R team in a conference room as being a single.” Except for the people who adored it so much they made it sort of their favorite song on that album, “nobody recognized the potential in it.”
When “All Too Well” Originally Came Out, Swift Found It Difficult To Perform It
Swift’s record company, however, wasn’t the only factor in the song’s original lack of a music video. In fact, she found it difficult to even sing the song at the time.
The song was particularly difficult for Swift since it dealt with a topic that was, at the time, close to her heart. “I would have had a pretty difficult time doing it. I had to really like force myself to put my attention elsewhere at the moment in order to attempt to get through it while on tour. Therefore, there was no way in the universe that I could have created a visual component for the music at that time. To even know what I would make appropriate to do in order to visually express that tale, I required ten years of type of retrospective reflection. And I’m really appreciative that I was able to.
Swift’s wounds appear to have some healing through time. Fans of “All Too Well” must be happy that Swift was finally able to provide them with the anticipated videos.
