According to In Touch, Fualaau was reportedly arrested in September 2021 for allegedly driving while inebriated. He was detained at the Snohomish County Jail after failing the field sobriety test and the breathalyzer.
International attention was drawn when it was learned that Letourneau, a sixth-grader who was 12 at the time, was engaging in an abusive sexual relationship with Fualaau, a 34-year-old teacher and mother of four at the time.

Soona sued the police and the school administration for failing to protect her then 12-year-old son from her, even though she acknowledged even then that she couldn’t hate Mary Kay. A sexual harassment lawsuit involves the teacher Kyle Brooks.
Soona was granted complete custody of Audrey and Georgia, Mary Kay and Vili’s daughters, while she was serving a seven-year prison sentence. She addressed the discredited teacher when she found out about the relationship because she was determined to oppose it.
Soona was willing to let go of the past for the sake of her family. However, she believes that all mothers would want to choose the path for each of their children, as she said on The Early Show.
There is still not much information available on Soona, despite the fact that she occasionally posts images of herself with her grandchildren on Facebook. Mary Kay, on the other hand, is still of the opinion that she done nothing wrong because she did not view her relationship with the teenager as being improper.
